Hello and Welcome! I'm Monique a Culinary School Graduate with a Bachelors in Journalism and Mass Communications from Arizona State University. Go Sun Devils! Currently residing in Sunny Arizona. 

I love food! I have always loved food. I'm just one of those people who lives to eat. I was a food network junkie by the age of 10 living for my next amazing meal. 

As a Culinary School Graduate, I was professionally trained in French Cuisine. Food loaded with butter, cream and calories. At the time this was my favorite type of food, I was always up for a little indulgence. Growing up I was known as the family carnivore. My birthday dinner every year consisted of steak, steak and more steak. 

 

After years of indulgence I started experience severe stomach issues. Sharp agonizing pains that could drop you to the floor in a second, along with a slew of other not so fun symptoms. I went to multiple doctors to determine the root cause. I was diagnosed with A-IBS. There is really no medication or anything you can do for A-IBS. 

 

Eliminating "trigger foods" is one options to help ease symptoms. I found that animal based products along with high fat foods, such as fried foods, caused my symptoms. After eliminating all animal based products, I feel better than ever and full of life! 

 

My plant-based journey started as a simple diet but has evolved into so much more. With the knowledge I have gained, my appreciation for our planet and the benefits a plant-based lifestyle can bring have grown.

I have a serious passion for cultivating mouthwatering plant-based culinary creations. I also have a passion for all things health and wellness, striving to live my life as clean as possible for myself as well as my family. I am a mother to my wonderful 9-year-old, Alina. She is artistic, full of personality and my entire world! Alina is one picky eater so we are still working on her plant-based journey.

What is a Plant-Based Diet?

 

A whole foods plant-based diet is a diet centered around minimally processed and unrefined plants. It is a diet based on fruits, vegetables, beans, whole grains, legumes, nuts and seeds. 

It excludes all animal based products including meat, poultry, fish, seafood, dairy and eggs. It also minimizes or excludes highly processed and refined foods such as refined sugar, bleached flour and oil. 

Plant-Based vs. Vegan? 

A plant-based diet is technically a vegan diet and many plant-based individuals identify as vegan. However, vegan generally means pertaining to a certain lifestyle. It goes beyond food. Living life as a vegan means adopting a cruelty-free life on all levels including everything from shoes to beauty products.

 

I try to live my life as a plant-based vegan combining the health aspects of a plant-based diet with the lifestyle choices of veganism. I find I am happier and healthier since transitioning to a plant-based vegan lifestyle.
